Update: The tracks below are planned to be released on October 25.
I’ve been working on a remix for the track “Negerboll“, originally published by Erik Vilde on YouTube in 2007, since April. Erik wrote “Negerboll” and uploaded it the very same evening, and as of today (October 2024), it has almost 500k views. It has been involved in controversies with—surprise, surprise—racists! Who would’ve thought?
Erik Vilde can be described as a songwriter who primarily plays acoustic guitar. His music often combines humorous lyrics with an acoustic sound, creating a lighthearted yet insightful feel. His ability to put an entertaining twist on everyday topics adds a unique charm to his style, making it both engaging and fun.

The first two attempts failed, largely because I wasn’t fully familiar with the software, the genre, or the rhythm. This has haunted me for months, as I felt I couldn’t let such a brilliant set of lyrics down. So this weekend, I’ve sat down, taken a deep breath, and given it a new chance.
In the original track, Vilde has aimed his humor at the ongoing debate, simply because he got tired of people constantly arguing over trivial matters, such as whether it’s called negerboll or chokladboll (oatmeal ball). This is a constant struggle we live with—one against pettiness in Sweden, something Vilde emphasizes in the track as well. For instance, he sings that “it’s always been called that,” which, of course, isn’t true (unless you’re an idiot). In the song, he also tells the story of Ann-Sofie, a likely fictional character who suffers from these exact issues. By the end, she loses her composure to such an extent that she completely mixes up her words. Vilde uses Ann-Sofie’s meltdown to highlight the absurdity of the debate, which ultimately devolves into racial slurs, only showing that we haven’t progressed as far as we should in terms of societal development.
In very short terms: it had to be remixed and given new life so we can be reminded of this for a while longer. It will, if everything goes as planned, reach spotify and several streaming services around october 25. Otherwise, I’ll have this info updated.

The Remix
The Original from 2007
Erik Vilde – Negerboll
A bit unstructured lyrics, but here they are!
Men nu börjar hennes hjärna tappa all kontroll.
Allihopa – negerboll!Kom igen då, negerboll.Ja det heter negerboll.Kom igen då, negerboll.Allihopa – negerboll.Ja det heter negerboll.
Negerboll, negerboll.

I asked ChatGPT to write a satirical Swedish song about the “sosseriet” (a mocking term that the right wing often uses to undermine democracy), with a twist revealing that what we really want to stop is “nasseriet” (a reference to Nazism). However, since current AI engines still struggle with vocals and instruments, I ended up having to rewrite and sample everything beyond recognition, resulting in a completely new track.
So, the original idea was to base this on the Sweden Democrats’ own party platform, with ChatGPT highlighting the darker aspects, using their own words. The goal was to transform it into a satirical track in Udio’s music AI, set to a 4/4 beat. It was supposed to be done in the style of Svensk dansband—a genre famous for its catchy melodies and heartfelt lyrics, like the legendary Lasse Stefanz, Arvingarna, Vikingarna, Thorleifs etc. But, alas, Udio hasn’t quite mastered Swedish dance bands (at least in the way I wanted it). Let’s just say Lasse Stefanz wouldn’t be too thrilled with the final result!

[CHORUS] (WAS: DROP)Stoppa nasseriet, vi ser vad ni gör!
[CHORUS] (WAS: DROP)Stoppa nasseriet, vi ser vad ni gör!

No! This title is not misleading you. It doesn’t reflect the kind of “good” hate Nazis always talk about. No, this story is all about how confused teenagers could possibly navigate life. They could do it if they were just a tiny bit more, let’s say, creatively rebellious in their behavior. In such cases, hate will transform into music. Let me tell you a story about weird personal development.
Vanquish is the new title of a track I created as a young and frustrated kid in my early 20s, fed up with various “competing aspects” of life (girls), that sometimes were becoming too much to handle. Prior to this, I had been working on a series of songs over different periods. They are collectively referred to as “Hata Frank” (“Hating Frank”). These tracks were recently released on SoundCloud for historical reasons under the name Frankly Hating, though I’m now considering renaming the series Frankly Speaking to make it a bit more subtle. I no longer live with that same feeling of hate anyway. These tracks were produced at a very amateur level in FastTracker 2. They are perhaps best left in the archives, but I’ve collected them as part of documenting my creative history.

The original Frankly Hating/Speaking series was inspired by a personal “demon” from my youth. A younger man frequently visited my mother. He often made me feel like he was invading my space. Although his intentions weren’t bad, it felt intrusive as a teenager. As I documented in my blog, four versions of the track were released, representing this period of frustration.
Later, in the late 1990s, I encountered a new nemesis on the IRC channel #kärlek – _hugin. Hugin, around 25-26 years old, chatted with every girl he could, often crying on the phone to gain sympathy. At the time, I had just started dating someone and found his behavior frustrating. Instead of confronting him directly, I channeled my frustration into music: “The Raven”. To be honest, it was pretty shitty.

A new track morphed into Vigvatten, Silverpil & Påle (“Holy Water, Silver Arrow & Stake”) in the early 2000s, becoming a more rave-driven track, not similar to the old versions at all, and entirely created with Propellerhead Rebirth.

Frustration can do amazing things to you, can’t it?
The Raven became the final project in the original series, as the bird theme grew tiresome and creatively exhausting. Vigvatten, Silverpil & Påle recently transformed into Vanquish during this year (2024), as the Swedish title likely wouldn’t work well on platforms like SoundCloud or Spotify (even though there are Swedish listeners, of course).
Around the time after 1999, Through Your Neck took shape due to a “final contact with hugin,” who I believed had given up all attempts to get anywhere in life. Through Your Neck became the new track that diverged from the demonizing theme of the unlucky raven (olyckskorp) as a bird. Multiple remix attempts were made with Through Your Neck and the tones were much more calm than the prior edits.
In 2009, Whiplash was released. The title change was motivated by concerns that the original could be seen as too controversial for those involved. The original included lyrics such as “the bullet you shoot something-something goes right/straight through your neck,” with the central image of a silver bullet instead of an arrow, as the whole theme was initially based on mythology and supernatural beings. While Whiplash no longer dealt with gunshot wounds directly, it maintained subtle references to the neck stuff, serving as a weird “easter egg.”

In recent years, a remix (almost titled Dear Joey) was created, though it remained unfinished. The remix is long and ends abruptly, carrying the message that the unlucky raven (olyckskorp) is left behind, for another partner. The next project likely won’t focus on ravens at all but will explore a new direction. Only time will tell what that direction will be.

No! This title is not misleading you. It doesn’t reflect the kind of “good” hate Nazis always talk about. No, this story is all about how confused teenagers could possibly navigate life. They could do it if they were just a tiny bit more, let's say, creatively rebellious in their behavior.

No! This title is not misleading you. It doesn’t reflect the kind of “good” hate Nazis always talk about. No, this story is all about how confused teenagers could possibly navigate life.

The next project likely won't focus on ravens at all but will explore a new direction. Only time will tell what that direction will be.

The remix track “Leave me alone” was nearly released. It was blocked by a licensing issue so since then I’ve become more determined to revisit older works for remixing. There is plenty of unpublished music at home, along with MINT material that needs better handling.
This is the remix itself. It is a non profit hobby edition of a known track. This track was created several years ago by Ijaz Ali Nike.
Aside from this, I’ve also begun exploring new projects again, both through own remixes and brand new content. I’ll continue making third-party remixes as usual. And when I do, I’ll be more careful with how the licensing is handled. Currently, there isn’t enough financial capacity to license music for platforms like Spotify. If a licensing issue arises, the music won’t be distributed, which limits growth. However, it’s important to remember this is a hobby for me, not a full-time pursuit.

A revisit to the remix of Pete and Bas’ track “Get Low”, which I apparently never uploaded anywhere other than SoundCloud when it was first released. In this remix, I added “The Donk”, which I felt was missing from what was otherwise, as usual, a brilliant piece by the duo (with the title itself referencing Blackout Crew’s classic track “Put a Donk on It”). Honestly, the track didn’t need much modification, since it was already great, but for me, it was also about “training myself” on Reason Studio.
